This same story was told and retold for generations, from Asia and Asia Minor, to Europe's far north.

Ancient mythology might truly be said to be connected at the hip, and for millennia, across the Old World, migrations and cultural differentiation notwithstanding, the old stories retain many common roots both etymologically as well as symbolically. From the original Indo-European root language, 'Asura' is derived from the root 'asu', which signifies the 'air of life', and 'deva' from 'div,' 'to shine,' or 'deiwo,' 'heavenly.'

In the Norse variation of the myths the names of the protagonists and antagonists changes slightly, but the story is basically the same. The equivalent of the Indian Asuras were known as the Aesir (Asir), and the Devas the Vanir. These are the prototypes of the Grecian characters known as the demi-god Titans and Olympian gods, respectively.

CAUTION CONCERNING THE USE OF MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE
Magnesium hydroxide — in the form called Milk of Magnesia — is used by millions of people daily as a non-prescription antacid to neutralize stomach acid, and as a laxative (magnesium hydroxide is a common component of antacids and laxatives). In the amount recommended as a daily dose, very little — if any — laxative effect should be noticed when using Soma-Amrita® elixir.

Based on the Phillip's Milk of Magnesia® guidelines, adults (and children over 12 years) would use from 2-4 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia one or more times daily as a laxative. This amount is roughly 6-12 times our recommended dose of the Amrita-Soma® elixir, at between 1 and 1-1/2 teaspoons.

With such a wide range of sensitivities in human beings, there will always be exceptions to established guidelines. If the dosage used causes on-going bowel movements, this dosage should either be reduced, or use of the product discontinued.

The Zechstein is the upper division of the Permian (Dyas) of Europe. The prevailing rock is a magnesian limestone. This geological formation of Late Permian (Guadalupian and Lopingian) age is located about 1500–2000 meters below the surface of the Earth, in the European Permian Basin which stretches from the East Coast of England to Northern Poland. But, how does this fit into the Zechstein Sea story, and what does this have to do with the nature and power of our Zechstein Liquid Magnesium® products? To understand the ‘big picture’ requires a combination of catastrophic theory and an understanding of geological processes.

Approximately 250 million years Earth was in what scientists refer to as the Late Permian geological age. Dinosaurs had not yet roamed the earth. Earth as we know it today was immensely different during the Late Permian. Rather than seven land masses we now today, the continents were grouped together in a single landmass called Pangea.

Late Permian age (255 million years ago)

This single continent stretched from the north to the south pole. At this time there was a single giant central sea known as the Tethys Ocean. What was later to become known as the Zechstein Sea was at that time was a huge bay in the northern area of the Tethys Ocean, surrounded by this much larger outer sea and the land masses of proto-Europe.

At the very end of the Permian geologic age (255 Ma), when the single land mass known as Pangea straddled the early ocean of earth, a massive comet (likely a series of comets) slammed into the Earth. One of these celestial planet wreckers left a nearly 120 mile wide crater in the Earth's crust, breaking the back of the Pangea supercontinent. As the main body of this crustal plate drifted northwards it left a large portion of the plate behind it; a separate continent known to us now as Australia.

The ecological disaster following in the wake of this massive impact is known as the 'Great Dying' among paleontologists, or more formally, the 'Permian-Triassic Extinction Event.' So great was this disaster that this extinction event destroyed nearly 95% of all life on Earth! ANd yet life returned to earth. Part of the answer to the mystery of how life managed to not only regain its foothold on terra firma, but to prosper out of proportion to any other period in our geologic history, may be linked to OMMPA created as a result of comet impacts. This answer may also be a clue as to why Zechstein is more possessed of healing virtues than any other magnesium chloride know. But, more on this in our section: The Great Dying – Comet Paroxysm.

By the time of the Permian-Triassic 'great dying' comet event, narrow strips of land separated the two seas. Scientists theorize that occasionally salty waters from the larger outer sea would spill over these strips of land into the Zechstein Sea. As the salty outer sea water mixed with the Zechstein Sea’s fresher waters, evaporation caused a slow concentration of salts to build up within water Zechstein Sea. This resulted in massive salt deposits. This infiltration/evaporation process is similar to what even today in the Dead Sea, but on a much larger scale.

A giant comet struck the Earth in around 250 Ma, in what is now Australia, shattering the Earth's plate system. This event not only broke the continent away from Pangea, but also sent a titanic shock wave racing through the planet towards the opposite (antipodal) side. The pressure wave and temperatures resulting from this planetary paroxysm may have altered the underlying copper-rich shale deposits beneath the proto-Zechstein Sea infusing the waters of the sea with high levels of Copper OMMPAs (ORMUS).

Today, some 250 million years later, the Zechstein Seabed begins near the eastern border of present day England and stretches east to Poland.

To the northeast of the Zechstein Sea lies one of the largest flood basalt plains in the world, known as the Siberian Traps. Along with other major deposits of basalt, among them the Oregon Flood Basalt plain and the Deccan FLats (western India), these sites appear to have been located (at the time of impact) antipodal to the the massive impact sites!

Mars is a good example of what happens when a giant comet smacks into a planet. One of the largest impact plains (what is left over after erosion and other geological processes smoothes out an ancient impact crater) on Mars, called Hellas Plenetia, lies directly antipodal to the largest (known) volcano in the solar system – Olympus Mons. The gigantic comet or asteroid which struck the ‘red planet,’ pushed the surface of Mars some 15 miles into the planet, causing seismic pressure waves to smash their way through the planet. This pressure wave ruptured the crust of mars on the opposite (antipodal) side of the planet, cracking it open and allowing massive amounts of mantle to flow onto the surface, and in a very short period of time. The same processes have occurred on Earth, and from the same root cause.

As the Zechstein Sea was being formed, the Earth underwent the largest comet impact in its life. This impact (or series of impacts) killed off over 95% of all planktonic life, and just about everything remaining above the surface of he earth. I was known as the Permian-Triassic extinction event.

The temperature and pressure wave(s) from this giant impact traveled through our planet, striking the extensive copper shale deposits which lay underneath the Zechstein Sea. We believe that it was this impact – with its associated pressure wave — which which caused the Zechstein magnesium brine to capture a rich supply of copper OMMPAs.

Over the course of millions of years, some salt beds have been able to make their way through cracks in the overlying rock. Some of the salt that has not been able to bubble up because of overlying rocks instead form what are called salt pillows. This is what has happened to much of the magnesium salts existing in the once active Zechstein Sea. So how does this fit into the Zechstein Sea story, and what does this have to do with the nature and power of our Zechstein Liquid Magnesium® products? To understand the ‘big picture’ requires a combination of catastrophic theory and an understanding of geological processes.

To the northeast of the Zechstein Sea lies one of the largest flood basalt plains in the world, known as the Siberian Traps. Along with other major deposits of basalt, among them the Oregon Flood Basalt plain and the Deccan FLats (western India), these sites appear to have been located (at the time of impact) antipodal to the the massive impact sites!

Mars is a good example of what happens when a giant comet smacks into a planet. One of the largest impact plains (what is left over after erosion and other geological processes smoothes out an ancient impact crater) on Mars, called Hellas Plenetia, lies directly antipodal to the largest (known) volcano in the solar system – Olympus Mons. The gigantic comet or asteroid which struck the ‘red planet,’ pushed the surface of Mars some 15 miles into the planet, causing seismic pressure waves to smash their way through the planet. This pressure wave ruptured the crust of mars on the opposite (antipodal) side of the planet, cracking it open and allowing massive amounts of mantle to flow onto the surface, and in a very short period of time. The same processes have occurred on Earth, and from the same root cause.

As the Zechstein Sea was being formed, the Earth underwent the largest comet impact in its life. This impact (or series of impacts) killed off over 95% of all planktonic life, and just about everything remaining above the surface of he earth. I was known as the Permian-Triassic extinction event.

The temperature and pressure wave(s) from this giant impact traveled through our planet, striking the extensive copper shale deposits which lay underneath the Zechstein Sea. We believe that it was this impact – with its associated pressure wave — which which caused the Zechstein magnesium brine to capture a rich supply of copper OMMPAs.

Over the course of millions of years, some salt beds have been able to make their way through cracks in the overlying rock. Some of the salt that has not been able to bubble up because of overlying rocks instead form what are called salt pillows. This is what has happened to much of the magnesium salts existing in the once active Zechstein Sea. The result is that Zechstein Liquid Magnesium® is in the form of Magnesium Chloride, at concentrations ranging from 31% - 33% pure magnesium chloride. Advanced purification technologies are employed to processes this exceptional magnesium chloride, also known as Bischofite or magnesium oil. Nearly all of the impurities including gypsum, halite, sylvite, potassium and others have been naturally removed.

Understanding pH
pH (potential of hydrogen) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 14—the lower the pH the more acidic the solution, the higher the pH the more alkaline (or base) the solution. A pH of 7 is neutral.

Water is the most abundant compound in the human body, comprising 70% of the body. The body has an acid-alkaline (or acid-base) ratio called the pH which is a balance between positively charges ions (acid-forming) and negatively charged ions (alkaline-forming.) The body continually strives to balance pH. When this balance is compromised many problems can occur.

Note that we are not referring here to the pH of stomach acid. We are talking about the average pH of the body's fluids and tissues which is an entirely different matter.

Test Your Body's Acidity or Alkalinity with pH Strips
Just like your cholesterol and blood pressure, your pH says a lot about the state of your health. It is easy to test your body’s pH levels to determine if your body's pH needs correction.

In general, the pH of the human body should be slightly alkaline — about 7.4 [1] . A pH reading in this optimal zone is what you want, while a pH reading which deviates from this mean — depending on the level of that deviation — can mean you’re putting yourself at risk for serious disorders. Even a slight pH imbalance can cause weight gain, make you tired, give you trouble digesting your food, and even cause aches and pains in your body. [2,3]

Most parts of the body have their own nominal pH ranges. For example, the Stomach’s acid ranges from 1.0 to 3.0, Pancreatic secretions go from 8.0 to 8.3, and the skin can vary from 4.5 to 7.0. [4] But the blood is not so flexible. It has a very narrow pH range: 7.365 to 7.45. [5]

Your urine and saliva hold the key to your health
You can measure the pH of the fluids inside of your body by the secretions urine and saliva. The reason this works is because the kidneys constantly get rid of excess acids through the urine. Urine can range anywhere from 4.5 to 8.5 pH. [6] The pH of your urine is a good reflection of the pH of your internal fluid environment. [7] If your urine tests high in acids (below pH 6.75), then you know your body is high in acids. If your urine tests low in acids (above pH 6.75), then your stores of alkaline minerals are doing a good job of buffering the acids in your body.[8]

A second easy way to discover the overall pH balance (or imbalance) of your body is to test the pH of your saliva. The pH of Saliva can range from pH 5.5 to pH 7.5 or more. [9] If you have enough alkaline minerals, your saliva test should register a healthy range between pH 7.0 and pH 7.5. But if your body’s mineral reserves are too low, the acids can overwhelm your system, and you’ll test under 7.0. [10]

By using (narrow range) pH test strips, you can determine your pH factor quickly and easily in the privacy of your own home. If your urinary pH fluctuates between 6.0 to 6.5 in the morning and between 6.5 and 7.0 in the evening, your body is functioning within a healthy range. If your saliva stays between 6.5 and 7.5 all day, your body is functioning within a healthy range.

The best time to test your pH is about one hour before a meal and two hours after a meal. Another good general practice it so test your pH 2 days a week.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

This Kala (Kala-makara) figure (above) guards a doorway into a Buddhist temple in Indonesia. As the story goes Kala – a Deva – was not supposed to drink the 'elixir of life' obtained by the 'churning of the ocean of milk.' However, he obtained some, and drank it down. Yet, before he could finish, an avatar of Vishnu – summoned by the Asuras (upset that a Deva was sneaking a draught) – cuts off his head. The irony is that the poor Kala had only managed to drink enough to keep his head immortal; the rest of his body was not so lucky!

In the mythologies of Asia this story was told and re-told for as long as six thousand years, as a way of explaining that the head and body of Rahu and Ketu (Kala and Makara in the Buddhist mythologies) take turns periodically swallowing the moon (referring to the north and south lunar nodes) and are responsible for the cycles of lunar eclipses. In reality this myth is a classic example of esoteric symbolism linking astrological planetary alignments during which various preparations of the Amrita (and other sacred 'elixirs of life') were produced.

What's the lesson in this ancient story of elixir guzzling? Just look at that Kala grinning. Obtain some Amrita•Soma® as quickly you can, and drink it down before the Asuras find out, and this grin could be yours!
